The 2025 FIM Flat Track World Championship powered by HKC Koopmann, Anlas, Kineo and Blackburst passes the halfway point this coming Saturday (23 August) with an historic first visit to Scheessel in northern Germany where the scene is set for an afternoon of high-octane racing with charging Czech star Ervin Krajčovič (KTM) aiming to extend his eight-point advantage at the top of the standings.

  • 2025 FIM Flat Track World Championship heads to Germany for round four
  •  Czech hero Ervin Krajčovič defends eight-point lead in Eichenring Scheessel
  •  Defending champion Sammy Halbert continues his fight back on Saturday

Krajčovič, who was champion in 2023, has not finished outside the top three since the first round of 2024 and will be aiming to extend this incredible record to nine consecutive podiums after running one-three-one in the three rounds staged so far this season, but the sport’s biggest stars are lining up behind and determined to capitalise on the slightest mistake from the thirty-four-year-old from Prague.

Currently sitting second in the points table, Krajčovič’s compatriot and training partner Ondřej Švédík (KTM) also has a full-house of podiums this season after adding a third-placed finish last time out in Donji Kraljevec in Croatia to go with his three-two scores from the opening rounds in Italy and Germany.

Švédík took what is so far his sole Grand Final victory at the first round of 2023 and would dearly like to add to this total on Saturday, but as well as Krajčovič he will have to contend with Italy’s Daniele Tonelli (TM) who sits just three points behind after storming to a sensational second in Croatia and then there is the not-so-little matter of American idol Sammy Halbert.

The thirty-seven-year-old defending champion from the Pacific Northwest narrowly defeated Krajčovič last season to take the title at just his second attempt, but this year has not gone to plan and his victory at round two has been sandwiched between fifth-placed finishes in Germany and Croatia that have left him fourth in the championship chase, two points adrift of Tonelli.

Still searching for his first podium of the year, Spain’s Gerard Bailo (Zaeta) was champion in 2022 and runner-up the following year, but while he is a consistent front-runner the thirty-year-old from Barcelona is still searching for the extra edge needed to break through into this year’s top three.

By his own high standards, Italy’s Kevin Corradetti (Yamaha) has had a disappointing start to the 2025 campaign, though as the season has progressed he has been steadily building and at Donji Kraljevec he came home fourth, a result he will be aiming to improve on at Scheessel.

Other riders who will be hoping to be in contention in the Eichenring Scheessel include the British pairing of Jack Bell (Triumph) and Tim Neave (Gas Gas), experienced Supermoto racer Vít Janoušek (Honda) from the Czech Republic who is impressing in his first full season in the series, Argentinian Santiago Arangio (Yamaha) and veteran German Markus Jell (KTM).

The action from the Eichenring Scheessel is scheduled to get under way with the opening Heat at 14:00 (local time).
